ARTIST BIO - LiA LEDEZMA

Gracing the stages since 2001, Lia is a multilingual singer/songwriter based out of Maui,HI. She has a vocal style that could be described as a mix between Gwen Stefani, Shakira, Sean Paul and Pitbull. Her musical style ranges from Reggae to Hip Hop,

Funk, pop, R&B and Reggaeton. She has an energetic stage presence and is known for her exciting live shows.  Born in Panama City, Panama, she grew up surrounded by a melting pot of musical styles. From Salsa to Reggae, "Congo" to "Tipico" Dancehall and even Classical. Her father is the Conductor of the Panama National Symphonic Orchestra and the Choir Musica Viva, and as a child, Lia would often participate in operas and concerts. After her parents divorced, she spent some time in Salvador, Brasil, where her mother is from, and got exposed to Brazilian music like Samba, Axé and Bossa Nova.  Lia's cultural background, makes her a diverse artist that can sing and flow in English, as well as Spanish and Portuguese.  At age 14 she moved to Maui and attended King Kekaulike High School.  After graduating, she became a part of a singing group called "Shuga". The group released a Urban/Pop EP and performed all over Maui and O'ahu at places like Hapa's, Pipeline Cafe, and Kaponos. They also performed in Los Angeles and Miami and auditioned for Sony and BMG Latin.  After the group split up, Lia moved to Los Angeles and attended Musicians Institute in Hollywood where she studied music recording, music business and media.

She went on as a solo act and recorded a demo album called "Breaking Sonido". The album was a mix of Hip Hop, R&B and Reggaeton, in which Lia did both singing and rapping. Performing all over L.A in places like The Rumba Room in Universal City Walk, House of Blues on the Sunset Strip, and vault 350 in Long Beach, and opening for popular Latin acts like Pitbull, Zion and Punta Cartel, Lia managed to catch the attention of many major labels including BMG. But sometime between starting work on a few tracks, and negotiations on the deal being finished, the big merge with Sony corporation took place, all negotiations fell through. After returning to Maui, Lia began recording and releasing singles, working on collaborations, doing studio work and singing out in clubs and festivals as much as she could, making a name for herself as a top Maui singer and live performer.

Recently, she has shared the stage with the likes of Mick Fleetwood, Steven Tyler, Pit Bull and more, in her many gigs around the islands. She has opened for local and major reggae acts such as Ali Campbell, Pato Banton, Common kings, and Fiji among others.  Lia might have made a splash with her single "So Nice" and collaborations like "It Can't Get Better Than This" with Kalisi which hit the top of the charts all over Hawaii, and Maui favorites like "411" and "meant to Be" with Leylani are still heard all over the airwaves, but you can expect a lot more bang from LiA LiVE on her debut album to be released independently late 2015.
